Holocaust Monument Hanover, Germany
Photo impressions of the Holocaust Monument in Hanover, Germany. The monument is located in Opernplatz, next to Staatsoper Hannover (Hanover State Opera). The memorial for the murdered jews of Hanover was designed by the Italian artist Michelangelo Pistoletto and placed in 1994. In Hanover alone, more than 6800 jewish people became victim of the Nazis. The names of about 2000 jewish victims have been carved in the stone so far.

Hauptbahnhof Hannover
Hauptbahnhof Hannover / Central Station Hanover (Germany). The square in front of the station is called Ernst-August-Platz and features a monument of Ernest Augustus I of Hanover. Ernest Augustus I was the 8th child and 5th son of King George III who ruled in both the United Kingdom and Hanover. Ernest Augustus I was King of Hanover from 20 June 1837 until his death in 1851.

Museum August Kestner - Hanover, Germany
August Kestner Museum is located next to the Hannover City Hall (Neues Rathaus).
Kestner Museum was founded in 1889 but it was severly damaged in the Second World War. From 1958 to 1961 the building was changed and increased through adding a new facade around the existing structure. The outer walls consist of thousands of glass and concrete blocks.

A beautiful day in Hannover, Germany
A beautiful day in Hannover, Germany. With a population of more than half a million, Hannover is the largest city and the capital of the German state of Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony). The city skyline is dominated by the tower of the Marktkirche (Market Church). The Marktkirche is a huge Lutheran church which is located at the heart of the Old Town.
