Nowadays the Central Station in Hanover looks just great but it was badly damaged during World War II. However, it underwent an extensive reconstruction and was completely restored by 1948. More recently, the station was reconstructed for Expo 2000. Hauptbahnhof Hannover is equipped with a large shopping center (The Promenade), lifts to all platforms and new signage in accordance with the current DB corporate design.
