Museum de Fundatie, Paleis aan de Blijmarkt in Zwolle

Paleis aan de Blijmarkt is the location of Museum de Fundatie in the Dutch city of Zwolle. The  neoclassical building was completed in the period 1838 - 1841. In 2004 - 2005 the building was turned into an art museum according to a design by architect Gunnar Daan.




In 2012-2013 Paleis aan de Blijmarkt got a further spectacular expansion. A giant ellipse-shaped structure was placed on the top of the building. The museum extension was designed by Hubert-Jan Henket (Bierman Henket Architecten). The structure is referred to as the eye or the cloud but some people call it the egg, UFO or even spaceship.
