Holiday Inn Beirut

The Holiday Inn Beirut is a reminder of the Lebanese Civil War. The hotel is located in the Minet-el-Hosn district of downtown Beirut. It was severely damaged during the Battle of the Hotels, an armed conflict between Christian and Muslim militias in the early stage of the Lebanese Civil War. Due to the substantial damage to the building and the high reconstruction costs, the Holiday Inn will be most probably destroyed in the near future.

La Liberté in Groningen

La Liberte is a recently constructed apartment building in the Dutch city of Groningen.

The building is designed by the French architect Dominique Perrault, best known for Bibliothèque nationale de France in Paris.

German Street Seafood

If you are visiting the town of Emden, you should definitely go for a walk in the Delft Harbour. This is the oldest and most beautiful part of town. At the end of the Delft Harbour, you will find a street vendor selling deep fried fish and various seafood snacks. In addition to the traditional fish and chips, you will find pickled herring, shrimps, eel, salmon, various salads ... you name it.

Holocaust Monument Hanover, Germany

Photo impressions of the Holocaust Monument in Hanover, Germany. The monument is located in Opernplatz, next to Staatsoper Hannover (Hanover State Opera). The memorial for the murdered jews of Hanover was designed by the Italian artist Michelangelo Pistoletto and placed in 1994. In Hanover alone, more than 6800 jewish people became victim of the Nazis. The names of about 2000 jewish victims have been carved in the stone so far.
